...ive just looked, and it seems that, whilst copper took a bit of a hit last year, we're still only talking percentages, not multiples, like ferrous.

things like aluminium seemed pretty stable all year.

Copper seems to be down by about a third of what it was a year or two ago?

I dont bother taking nonferrous to the scrapys, all they do it take it to Booths in Doncaster.

I go direct now and get a far better price for it

Still use lead shot and lead weights for carp fishing and float fishing don't know what poster above is on about.

i priced ferrous metal in the local scrap yard last week, heavy metal is £50 a tonne where as light metal is £5 a tonne.
i didnt price car battery's lately but i took about 30 of them to him about 16 mths ago and he handed me £400 odd for them.

i have the best end of 20 tonne of scrap to go here but at 50 a tonne its not going to come into much.
if id of got the finger out a few years ago id of got £160 a tonne for it, ffs.
the only problem now is id say its going to get even cheaper than 50, or so my scrap man reckons anyways.
i dont know whether to just cash it in now and cut my losses or not.

Brad93 using lead waters for fresh water fishing was made illegal many years ago, if you have bought split shot recently like in the last few years it will be non lead. just check since 1986 I think unless you have bought yours on line a reputable shop would not sell it, what they sell is what you are allowed which is not lead

Well im breaking the law then because ive got split shot and leads right up to 5oz for carp fishing mate.

"You can only use lead weights if they’re .06 grams or less or more than 28.35 grams. This means lead shot weights from size 14 to size 8 and lead weights over 1 ounce."

They won't be lead, they will be that black stuff that doesn't grip quite as well, unless it's big carp leads

The lead is valuable I took about 10 up and had over 70 pounds from the scrap metal place in Glasgow
