Day/weekend course South for hobbyist

Hi All

I'm hoping to book a day or weekend course for my partner as he wants to learn MIG welding to maintain vehicles and things. He's quite savvy and picks things up quite quickly. I've seen some courses in Essex, but it's quite far away. We're near Portsmouth/Southampton way. Does anyone know of a good course or anyone local that could do tuition? I've seen on other threads people saying some courses can be a bit pants so bit wary of that.

You could try the Dorset Centre for Rural Crafts, but I think they may be shut down now because of covid.

Hi Lisa, I live on the Island and a couple of years ago I did a welding course at one of the colleges in Southampton. It was one evening a week, for 8 weeks as I remember, with good facilities and very reasonably priced. I opted for stick, but there is a choice.
Unfortunately I have forgotten the name of the college! ..but I will try and find it from my records.
