That's a mk1 curvy frame, the mk2 was supposedly 'better' but it looked terrible imo.

yea reminds me of an old school Harris frame...nice chrome powder coat might work against the black,highlighting the curves

Great bikes, cheap and loads about, so there must be plenty in the breakers too. Its the old gsxr air cooled engine in the bandit isn't it ?

Standard ones with low miles fetch good money but too many got crashed and all the bits swapped for aftermarket, little indicators and stubby levers and twin headlamps then they are worth about £300.

I had it's "little brother" for a couple of years, nice bike....

Not sure on this one but ive swapped out a few 2nd gears in the past on big fours just by taking motor out and going in from the bottom by taking off the lower case and leaving the heads/barrels ect intact. I bet its the 2nd gear dogs that have either rounded or snapped like most 2nd,s do. I used to get my gears undercut to avoid this problem as the cut angle dragged the gears closer instead of just relying on the dogs to hold em in.

I changed a gear on an old Yam 400/4 (can't remember model) by lifting the whole bike up on engine crane and working from underneath. Never again - will remove engine next time !

Splitting the crankcase isn't something you can do from underneath with the engine in the bike it's a big strip down. You have to replace the corresponding part on the input and output shaft. I have the Haynes for the 95 to 97 Bandit. When you open it up take lots of pictures.

Daft that the gearbox can't be taken out by removing a side cover like you could with the old british bikes. Having to dismantle an entire engine just to get to one cog is a lot of needless work.

You could always splash out on a race style cassette gearbox where everything comes out in about 5 mins.........
