After the freeze of the washing machine/boiler condensate line I thought we’de Got off lightly with the cold snap. Tonight after the footy I ventured into the workshop, which is really two long garages joined side by side. The issue being “joined”. The roofs are pitched corrugated asbestos cement sheets, nothing big, just the common domestic stuff. The valley between them is something like a 6 by 6 asbestos trough, they look like four foot lengths, maybe longer, with lapped joints bolted together. Anyway, the one directly above my toolbox has split along its length, presumably it was split before, water seeped in and froze. now it’s a constant dribble, all over my tools, the Xj650 and other stuff.
Luckily I managed to feel the split, between the trough and the adjoining garage wall. I’ve “kneaded” some silicone sealer in there with my fingers, seems to have slowed or maybe even stopped it...
Question, do these troughs still exist in the market place? I’m thinking the fix is going to mean lifting the adjacent sheets, another dodgy exercise given it’s all 40 yrs old.
The weather men got it right though - it’s got to be 14 degrees outside here.
