Damascus steel billets and knife blanks

I wasn't aware you could buy this steel until I accidentally came across this, I briefly thought of buying a bit to play with but realised I have far too many projects on the go but thought others might, especially the knife makers.

Of the three patterns, raindrop, ladder and twist, I think I prefer the raindrop, I would like a smallish kitchen knife in that. One day when I get a forge maybe.

Have a look on the bay for damascus steel. It should arrive annealed so you can work it. Once ground should just need heat test ment and tempering

I'd rather have a good carbon steel blade or something you know the properties of. A lot of the "Damascus" for sale on various sites is Pakistani or Indian of dubious composition and only made to look pretty not always the best knife steel.

Ok, that's interesting. A couple of the places I've been looking at have stated that's it's made in house in the UK. One to avoid if it's potentially dubious
