All car makers were the same at one time, I've seen hinged levers used to diagonally twist the tailgate aperature to get a good fit and doors slammed on hammer stales to set the hinges
when i started werk all those years ago at a BL main dealer,we had to virtually rebuild a lot of the cars during PDI they were so rubbish quality,including the odd jag we had in.
A mate of mine had an FSO Polonez a few years back that'd obviously missed that step of the process.
Never did get one of the back doors to open.
Took door trim out, wedged handle on outside to unlatch it, 17 stone owner lay across the back seat kicking it hard with both feet while someone hauled on the handle from the outside... Nothing! Didn't budge a millimetre...
