Cylinder head repair

I'm trying to find someone (preferably in the North London area) to weld my cylinder head.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

i would suggest looking at an engineering firm that also resurfaces cylinder heads as it will probably need doing after it has been welded how did it happen and does it have a crack in it aswell as it would also need pressure testing if so

I know it's a bit of a trek from London but when I worked in the trade we would post them heads.

There's no crack just a very small area that needs to be built up with weld.
It probably started off as a small fault in the casting and got worse over time.
I'm happy to smooth off the weld and skim the head myself once the repair has been done.

If it's not of something rare and exotic (8 valves doesn't look exotic) I'd look round the scrapyards for a replacement. The water jacket's leaked into the combustion chamber pretty well there.

if you look at the photo the chip missing is between water jacket and cylinder

The head's off a 1995 FIAT Panda so it's far from exotic, unfortunately this particular version is proving rather hard to find.

Hmmm Exactly the same corrosion to my 1990 Fiat Uno Head. (same heads)

Yes I did notice that and I think that's what I said in the post If it's pulled enough water in the valve seats will be suspect too

I'm not sure exactly but I did about 20 miles after the gasket went, I'll decoke and reseat the valves before I refit the head.

My son's 94 Panda managed to burn a hole through between cyls 3 & 4 a while back - down to abuse and poor timing rather than corrosion.
I had it welded and machined locally (near Southend-on-Sea) and it worked a treat

I've stripped the cylinder head and found a second damaged area between two waterways. A forum member in Watford has offered to have a go at welding the head, however I'd prefer to hold out for someone in the (North) London area and save myself a 60 mile cycle ride.

The following pictures show the damaged areas I would like welded.

I wonder why these two spots are so similiar to all FIRE heads. My head has the same corrosion there too, besides the other one !
