CWS Best Mig

Has anyone got any proper hands on experience with these units yet?

im mostly interested in the 160amp mig as anything i am going to be welding that requires more than a 160 amp mig is just going to get done with either the stick welder side of it or my parweld anyway and i mostly want to be able to sew a landrover back together and bits and pieces for my father on his jag every now and then so no need for high amps.

i was on the verge of buying one before i bought the parweld but with a lack of reviews about i wasnt sure if it was worth the risk

Some one on here bought one last year as it was a cheaper than the R-tech 180. Good reports iirc

nothing came up in my search apart from posts from myself and a few mentioning that chunkolini had tested on and said it felt good.

I think it was in one of my threads when i was looking for a new welder and ended up with the r-tech. if that was the case then it was around this time last year

I've had mine for over six months now. It's not had a ton of use, but I'm on my second bottle of gas (10ltr). Still as smooth as the day I got it, and hasn't gone bang yet!

I notice CWS have added a 'mark two' for an extra thirty odd quids, with burn back control, lower amps and soft start. I don't know that I've found a need for lower amps. In fact I don't think Ive used it on the lowest setting and I work with 1mm sheet a fair bit ...burn back control might be nice though, I do have periods where I seem to have to snip off the wire end a lot.
