Hi all, anyone found any good makers of cv boots, replaced an Inner less then a year ago and its given up at the shaft end, quality doesn't seem great anymore.

ive been treating them as consumables recently...to be done before the mot as par for the course

Yeah unfortunately that's how bad they are now, probably something to do with eu law and how rubber is made

Any boots made from TPEE seem to be the best bet.

If you want a boot to last, OE is the answer, or if it's a plastic type, GKN do them.

Previous employer had us fitting stretchy boots as they're cheaper, but they rarely lasted more than 18months.

To get a oldish car through a test stretch boot .
We use "mechatech" about the best stretch boot .
For a proper job OE boot kit is the way to go .
More cars fail on insecure boot .
The clip has corroded through .
Stainless hose clip is the best option especially for the "hard" plastic boots .

Be careful with clips or even tie-wraps. I had an ABS sensor fail on my Lancia yrs ago - I hadn't noticed the head of the tie-wrap hit the sensor can (hidden away in the hub) - over time it wore a hole in the end of the can. I now cut them to clear.
