Cutting thin steel with angle grinder

Was the sheet vibrating about, that kills discs quickly. Ideally hang it over the edge of a bench by 10-20mm, an clamp down with a bit of timber or something a little bit from the cut to eliminate the sheet vibrating.

I try to keep the disc full depth so it cuts the minimum material thickness and acts as a guide, with very little pressure the thin discs seem to glide through sheet.

I was thinking about this again and trying to visualise what I feel when cutting sheet. The disc is trying to climb out of the sheet so the forward pressure is nothing more than the disc pulling itself through the sheet by keeping it from climbing, the grinder feels like it is floating balanced against the climb if that makes sense and the tool is doing the work. I was dubious at first about the longevity of 1mm cutting discs after being given a couple many years ago then I was converted.

I use a grinder to cut flues, probably 1mm thick, 4" diameter tube. I've had the same disc years, granted these days it's not much bigger than the lock nut but I get my monies worth....

you dont cut steel with diamond, whether its the heat melting out the matrix or the actual diamond dissolving in to the steel ( it is just carbon) they don't last.

With an adaptor you can use the remains in a 75mm cutoff grinder down to the metal ring!

I do have a mini grinder but its not battery powered. However using all of a disc appeals to me

I was just looking for exactly that kind of thing, since there's so much choice and some of it is bound to be rubbish.
I took a punt on a couple of Lennox discs from ebay.

An entire box of bonded slitting discs got soaked a couple of years ago, and while they dried out ok, they've become as useful as cheese for cutting with, hence the need to replace them.
