Hi All I need to enlarge a hole in a stainless steel sink from 55mm dia to 90mm dia. Does anyone know if this can be done using a jigsaw...............no I don't have a plasma cutter.
Use CT1 or similar to stick plywood above and below the existing hole. Bolt the two pieces of plywood together within the existing 55mm diameter. Use 90mm hole saw to enlarge hole.
Starrett sell something called an A19 'oops arbor', which is designed to have two holesaws attached to it, so it can be used to enlarge an existing hole. A variation on that theme could be possible for you.
A fine cut (not very aggressive) die grinder bit in a wood router might also nibble away at the hole. Again, make a platform for the router from plywood. With a round base on the router and an appropriate template, the 90mm diameter could be held quite well.
We've used metal hole punches on sheet metal 2mm, which worked really well and gave a very neat and accurate edge. You'd probably be looking at spending £25 on one for 90mm though.
