I've used about 7 of those Erbauer 9" disks to cut 200mm x 12mm flat and 203mm x 102mm universal beams without any issue, including acute anged cuts in the UB to form haunches.
I wonder if you had a damaged disc or whether you started it on an edge and it snatched.
I was starting on the flat section so no corner. The idea was to score it along the whole cut as I would any other time. I use grinders every day, all be it 4.5" usually, and this is how I would always do it so I'm not sure. I took the rest of the discs back anyway and the bloke looked at the damaged one. Add you can see on the pic, there's no wear to the rest of it. It literally went bang within a second.
At least I managed to scratch the paint a bit.
i only break out the 9" grinder when i have to cut thicker than 10mm and those 2mm discs have never blwon on me like that. i have had a 4.5" disc go in a similar situation but i think it was mostly down to me being a bit too vigorous with the grinder to be honest
