cutting an ACME internal thread

would anyone be willing to cut a thread for me if i was to send said material?

I dont have the skill or tooling just yet to make a new leadscrew nut for a recently aquired mill, the one on it is damaged

I believ what i need is ACME 10tpi 1", gonng to do in brass

Any help much appreciated or who to speak to

Hell I wouldn't want to attempt that unless I had the leadscrew in my hand to test-fit whilst cutting.

Also, I would choose phosphor bronze, not brass, as a material. Or even acetal. You can even make your own using acetal and a hot air gun quite easily.

I will do it for you but I would need the lead screw
You would need bronze not brass
Is it right or left hand thread

Cheers guys for the quick response, I gave the acetyl method a go a few times and failed miserably!

I've been watching all your Sunday night caps for the last week as I'm not getting much time in the workshop due to a new baby, love it!

Send me your details I'd be happy to post the lead screw to you and the knackered nut for your opinion. My skill set is not quite ready or may never be to lend itself to this repair, I'm just a mere sparky

Have fun John, I'm looking at needing to do the same thing (internal left hand acme) for a clamp lead screw on my bandsaw. From the research I've done it is a horrible job in right hand, left will be worse.

Just turn the lathe upside down with the headstock to your right, that'll make it easier
