I've been welding for 10+ years now (just for hobby and stick only) but i've never done a cut&etch.
I had nothing important to do today so I went out to get some rust dissolver like the Loctite naval jelly Jody is always yappin' about. I used a dutch brand 'HG', thats also phosphoric acid like the naval jelly so I thought it should work.
I like it. It works. Next picture is of an outside corner on some left over 10mm flat stock.
Open root(2mm gap) welded with 2mm 7016 DCEN and fill and cap welded with 2.5mm 7018 DCEP.
