Cure for non-pivoting wheels on my 7 x 12 Jet Saw

My Jet 7" x 12" horizontal bandsaw has non-pivoting wheels. That makes them useless, since I will need to turn it out from the wall to make room for the stock being cut.

I fabricated a plate with a short length of 1" x 1" square tubing extending out from it. Now I can easily swing the end of the Jet saw out from the wall with a small floor jack.

How about a trailer or caravan jockey wheel mounted to that tube. You can raise it to move and lower for stability back onto its wheels

An over centre set of wheels as in F1Jack style mate has it on his BIG band saw.
Ring on front of machine pin goes into ring keep pushing handle down goes over center and pivots

I have a version of one of those saws and it had no wheels on the front! I bolted a plate on, made a bracket going forward, like your tube but triangulated, and bolted on swivel and braked castor. It works fine and I never need to use the brake.
I’ll get a pic tomorrow.

+1 for an over centre wheel but you could have a fixed wheel at 90 degrees which just lifts the front off the ground. Often when moving my 7x12 I just need to angle it then run it dead straight. So a non swivel wheel (or roller) would be sufficient.

Got me going now: how about a foot operated toggle (bit like a retractible pen) so you click on to lift onto the side roller, swing it out, click off for normal use.

Actually what you’ve done is a nice simple idea using available bits and pieces. Nice to see some actual welding being done

The black bar it came with is about 10mm off the floor, wheel is about 95mm diameter. Works really well and it does get moved about a lot as we keep it against the wall.
