cscs card

Ive been thinking about getting a cscs card. Mainly to try and get some labouring work. I hold a BS4872 and was wondering if this means i can do the health and safety test and then get a posher card colour ie not the green one for labouring.

I think you need NVQs and the such, best bet would be to to contact the cscs providers direct, I;m a coded welder, and all i have is a green card.

To be honest i'm not bothered about the colour, as long as i have one and it gets me on site, thats all that matters

Your basic CSCS card is what, £25? No NVQ's required for starters as far as I know, but I'd suggest finding a local builder or site and having a word. They should be able to tell you what they want to see from you.

Mine is a white one, 'Construction Related Occupation' which is Employer certified.
I guess you are self employed then? No idea how it works like that.

I dont think holding a 4872 ticket will make any difference.

i havent bothered with one up till now but the councill are making us get one to work on there extensions . buy the book from wh smiths health and safety and enviroment test for operatives and specialists for 10 quid . then book the test the test costs 18 quid .the book is a doddle a monkey can answer the multiple choice questions.http://www.cskills.org/supportbusiness/healthsafety/Health-Safety-Environment-Test/index.aspx

Complete waste of time! Our 6yr old girl would pass the H&S multiple guess questionnaire, but wouldn't be much use on site.

to an extent some of the questions are irelevant but general site safety should be known and observed by all not just a few . how many people would know what fire extinguishers to use in case of an emergency ?? can just imagine some p***k using foam or water on an electrical fire because no one informed him when u have worked on sites for 40 years theres no wonder training is needed when u have seen it all or thought u had

No but high enough to stops kids getting the ball back! Only way to stop pikeys is to connect the fence to the HV side
