cross head camera screws?

I have to strip and clean a 1970s olympus.
I figure it's jap so probably jis. Well it just so happens my precision
screwdrivers are japanese, so I am going to be ok there.
turns out the next size down screwdriver fit's, seems like the slot's are
to narrow. this will be fine for loose screws but if any are tight it's not
going to be so good. philips is completly wrong.
Special secret camera standard?

Sounds like JIS, weird Japanese standard, have the screw heads got a dot on them in one of the segments?

Google JIS, compare the images.

They will be jis if they hace a dot. Mitutoyos have them in. At the expense of upsetting a few on here just use a phillips. If its no dots then its phillips any way.

Yep, I've undone quite a few of these on cameras in the past, using my cheap 'jeweller's' set.

I bought this Sealy set some time ago and found they're well fitting Phillips tips, smallest is #00, decent quality too.

I have a Facom set of jewellers screwdrivers expensive at £30 just for the cross heads but never had an issues stripping cameras with them

Just found another precision screwdriver, we must have had lot's of sets, yet again it's got 'made in japan' on on it.
This one fits the baseplate screws perfectly, pity I couldn't find other cross head screwdrivers from that set, I just
know all the screws i find will be a different size.

I am a bit wary of shelling out dosh, I don't want more drivers that don't fit. I am going
to have to go to a tool shop, is there still such a thing.
