In 1946?The crankshaft on my 1946 1-1/2 litre Riley was machined from a single billet.

The last time I operated a lathe was in the 1960s that's why I find it amazing.Why'd you find it amazing? CNC and the programmer is the amazing part,particulary the programming.
I'm absolutely in aw of the CNC capabilities....got all the gear and box sections but not put it together yet.![]()
