cr2330 batteries

Can anyone confirm if the 2 cr2330 batteries fitted to a sealey welding mask need to be replaced with a rechargable type or just a standard fey fob type battery will do ?

looks like the one with the spot welded tabs on ,,
any battery of 3v lithium will do, i think you will find that the sensors for when you ark up just tells the helmet to go dark , the battery do the rest of making the helmet dark.

put a meter on it and arc up that will soon tell you if it charges the battery aswell

quick update replaced batterie's with standard cr2032's and all is working well again ,we'll see for how long!

Re the cr2330 batteries in welding helmets, I have a 3 year old weldmaster helmet that stopped darkening. It is stated that it is solar powered and has a solar panel but is fitted with the Cr2330 batteries.
If, as stated that the batteries are not rechargable, why is it stated as a solar powered unit - is it solar powerde or not? Also would the two batteries last up to 3 years powering the helmet - it only had ocasional use?

The battery is needed to switch the LCD. The solar cell is often not enough and does not get enough power until after the arc starts. Most of the power in use is from the solar cell.

Once the battery goes dead, it usually prevents the solar cell from working. The solar cell is easily seen from the front. There are also two or more light sensors usually seen as small circles near the lens.

Those that say they are solar powered are usually clueless that there is also a battery. The battery is only used intermittently; they usually die from age. Most are rated for 5 years or more (mine are 6-7 years old and still work.)

The CR series is an ordinary battery, the re-chargeable ones start with LIR but i'm not sure if they do a re-chargeable 2330

I was also wondering why it had both so that's answered my question.
my mask also seen only ocasional use but was about 7 years old when it stopped working

They are used on some mother boards, they are also found in cycle speedos.
