If I had to shift stuck pistons I would clamp a fat steel plate across the cylinder with a hole in it for a hydraulic fitting, fill the cylinder to the top with oil, screw in a fitting and pump the piston out with a porta-power type pump.
I liked that idea, but then thought about how few pistons can be pulled out of the bottom of the bore (in my limited experiece) I once did it for an MG PA that we couldn't find a head gasket for. But since then?
Also intrigued about the flat heads. Would that be a cost thing? Or development of the bowl in piston idea? It might be common in diesels, but back then, not so much in performance engines (Didn't know about the Jag V12)
