I know we all have stories, or have read reports, about poor service from Couriers - you know the kind....rude drivers, parcels minced, late delivery/uplift etc etc. But here's the reverse of the coin, just to give a plaudit to our local driver and restore some balance.
I had a parcel booked with MyHermes for uplift today, but he'd noticed it on his list yesterday and stopped in by to get it. I was away from home but he called at neighbours to see if I'd left it with them, which we sometimes do but I hadn't as I knew they were also going out later in the day. He was back this morning and it's now on its way (to @Parm
] ).
In the course of conversation I mentioned that there was another box due for uplift on Tuesday next [off on its holidays to France and @MCKDAVID
] , but that as I'd just printed the label I had to finish making up the parcel [taping up, fixing label on etc] and as that would take me a few minutes I didn't want to muck him about. "No problem" says he, "I'll wait here and have a fag while you finish off making it up".
Took me a few minutes to get organised, but he was quite happy and the parcel is now processed and dealt with. And, as an added bonus, it means that I don't have to organise my schedule around having to wait in on Tuesday for the scheduled collection. Double win!!
So they aren't all bad - there are instances of excellent service among all the dross
. Kinda restores your faith in good old-fashioned standards....well, it does mine.
