COSMO 170 GAS/ GASLESS MIG WELDER JUST STOPPED FEEDING

Hi All I have this Cosmo 170 mig welder and for no apparent reason it just stopped feeding the wire? I've checked the 12v motor that's working OK, I have continuity on the rotary speed switch also. What I don't have is any arc from the torch and now just found out the usual way (by mistake, ouch), I have a short that's putting the power through the machine itself??? When I operate the torch there is the usual switch clicking noise from the handle and the item (as you can see in the photo marked with the arrow) clicks also?, this item marked in the photo had a build up of soot in it, this has been cleaned but still no luck.
Is my machine salvageable or is it time to go to the scrap yard?

Probable the relay. Cheep enough <£10. Ebay search the type number under the word FINDER.

thanks for the heads up on the white switches, had that scenario happen way back, so it's one of the first things I check now, thanks for your input.

Relay is is then,

Forget Maplin their 16A relay is 8A at 230V http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/12v-dc-16a-spdt-interface-relay-n30aw

Farnell have them but Rapid seem cheaper http://www.rapidonline.com/Electronic-Components/Finder-12V-Relay-Miniature-SPDT-16A-DC-60-1015/

Just snip off the extra pair of terminals.

Just an update, Finder arrived, fitted, and mig now working. £4.84 is a lot cheaper than having to buy an mig. thanks to everyone
