@8ob there only good for side lifting onto roofs

they are no good for vertical lifting of the sheets so the rain runs downwards on those old water tanks

the sheets used to be holed at company before being coated then hooks was fitted at the top of the sheet so they could be vertically lifted

h&s crippled that lift as they quoted unsafe you need a bolt grip that failed as well with poeple not fastening the clamp tight enough and a few slipped out heading to the floor

Gaz believe me when I say there is absolutely no chance of them slipping, Its a kin sheet of wriggly tin at the end of the day and one of those each side aint gonna move. they weigh more than the sheet

To pull them up vertically Bob you would need one each side of the sheet would you not?

What are they suspended on?

Almost certainly how we would do it, mostly likely two shackles to reduce swinging.

Then it can be unbolted with hugely reduced fear of it going sidewards and slicing a rope.

static abseiling rope is scarily easy to damaged. I tore a rope just flicking it across a concrete edge no weight on it, just about to pull it up and bag it.

Not rope access, but usually from cherry pickers... nobody has ever questioned using the screw on type sheet grabs I linked to earlier with a scaffold arm on the top to hang a wheel from when I've had to do repairs on 50k litre silos.

To be honest that would be my first choice!! Lot less work using a mewp

Sorry, bit late in getting back to this... once I'd pointed the chief in the direction of the recommended wriggly-tin clampy thing my work was done
I gather they used two of them, one each side, and lowered the cladding down to ground level with the rope access guys guiding it.
I think that was the easy bit: stripping all the insulation was a fun job on the hottest day of the year, apparently


They couldn't get cherry pickers in, otherwise that would have been the first choice.
