Corrosion on a sealing surface

Where the thermostat housing connects to the cylinder head on my saxo has a lot of pitting/corrosion right under where the seal sits, thinking along the lines of a chemical metal repair, opinions and advice welcome.

Yep, JB Weld or chemical metal.

Or a really thick gasket with gasket gloop on it.

Use the "ordinary" one though. I have tried both their versions of higher heat, and they are more powdery and do not adhere or last as well.

Never tried Belzona, but its supposed to be the best.

Ive used Belzona a lot in the work place. Very common use for it, is to build up very high pressure sealing surfaces and flanges, prior to re machining. Talking 400 bar at times. The other quality product similar is Devcon…but there are a fair few variants just like Belzona.

If @LewisT is passing this way ( North Northumberland), I have an inservice tub, that will sort that no problem.

Other option, solder, clean with plenty of flux, flow solder into pitting, you could use bit of thin steel to stop excess going into water channel.
then use bastard file to clean of high spots, then sand flat with block,

there's a company called Resimac who make exactly the same product in small quantities at half the price

Laid it on and flat it back today, not perfect missed a small touch on bottom edge.

It wasn't leaking before so probably be fine with a good bead of rtv.
