corroded alloy???

Here's one for all you metallurgists - i'm talking bicycles here

I'm trying to release an alloy seatpost from and aluminium bicycle frame - with badger all success so far. Have liberally soaked it in wd40, prised seat pillar open slightly but it still won't budge. Heard today that wd40 type release sprays were all but usless on corroded aluminium and that ammonia was the solution!

Can't get any ammonia - any more suggestions???

I reckon you want some of the Gibbs stuff being currently discussed in this thread! I'm getting some and trying to drum up a few more orders as the supplier is offering discounts if he gets a few more via the forum.
Other than Gibbs..I get ammonia from a place that supplies scientific chemicals to schools and the like. (Their details here)
I would have thought any chemist would be able to get it for you or try companies that do industrial/catering cleaning chemicals.

Coke (the drink ) would probably clean it up, maybe even vinegar after a long soak?
I would rig up some kind of slide hammer jobbie and slam the hell out of it.
