Cordless tool batteries- £/ah

If dividing the price of a battery by the ah rating to get a £-per-a/h....

Comparing battries of the same technology/discharge rating etc and the prices are within a couple of £.

It would then make sense to me to buy two 6.0ah over one 12.0ah for an extra £10 or so.
That way I would be less likely to hit the thermal cut if using a high power tool like a grinder
And i could put one on charge while using the other.
And it's cheaper if I loose/break one.

Any flaws in my logic?

Check out the size as well - sometimes the bigger batteries are quite a bit bulkier/heavier which may or may not be important to you. I’d rather a couple of 5/6 ah batteries as they last long enough for my use, and as you say one can be charging while the other is in use.

A bigger battery will support a higher discharge rate which supposedly gives bigger tools more power. I've never tested it myself but I would have thought the batteries, even the small ones, are designed to support the maximum current any compatible tool can draw so it's not really a factor that would come in to my decision.

Personally, I'd rather have more small batteries than one big one, not that 6AH is small anyway.

I would go for the 2X 6 AH. I have had a couple of batteries suddenly die on me and would not recharge so it is less of a risk having 2 batteries. Granted they were aftermarket ones.

More batteries... run more than one tool without changing and have one on charge, also when a battery dies you still have a useful tool.

Imo its not worth getting the highest rating as they are usually premium priced

Had a word with the rep and I can get a better deal on buying a load of the 8's so that's made the choice for me. The 12's are also 1/3 physically bigger which puts me off.
He did say there is always a premium on whatever is the biggest in the range, said he actually tells people when they ask for the "new 12's" that it's cheaper to buy two 8's but half of them still buy the 12's for bragging rights on site!
