I bought a dewalt cordless screwdriver at an auction the other week. It came with the battery charger and two batteries. I checked both batteries before the auction started and there was life enough to show that the driver worked. Obviously other people did the same so when I won it and got it home I put the batteries on charge. The dewalt chargers light comes on as soon as you switch it on and if a battery is not in it goes out. Put a battery in and it starts flashing and when the battery charge is finished it remains steady. With both these batteries it starts to charge and then not long after its light flashes faster than normal. Both batteries when checked had no voltage. I would like to confirm that the charger is working before I fork out for a battery or two. Unlike some chargers this one only has the two pins to mate with the battery as opposed to three which I assume the third pin is there to confirm the battery is in place before passing power to the pins. So I thought that if this charger did not have this third pin then if I put my meter to the two pins on voltage I would get a reading. I did not! It is a 3.6v tool and the charger output is 1.3A 4.7VA. The charger number is a DE9219 and the battery is a DE9054
