Cordless Pressure Washers

Has anyone used one of these and what are they like? Are they any better than a garden hose and spray nozzle?

The area in front of my workshop is shared with a farmer who uses it regularly to load his cattle into a trailer. The cattle always leave deposits and I have to clean them up.

To save having to set up the pressure washer I was thinking about getting one of the fakita 18v washers to boost the output of the mains pressure garden hose. It will only be washing down wet cow muck.

I did read on one of the adverts that it was only suitable for sucking from a bucket and not for a direct feed from a tap.

I use a Worx Hydroshot and you can connect that straight into the mains tap, it comes with a Hoselock end on the gun.

Great bit of kit.

The Parkside one I have with a printed adapter and Makita battery is my goto one now for washing the car. Bucket of water/shampoo sprayed on then sponged. Bucket of clean to rinse. Saves running the house out and deffo uses less water.

Not tried for say cleaning decking before repainting or getting greenery off of paving. Will be doing so later today.

i had one did not find it that great would only realy wash a car at a push to clean a floor you had to put it so close to get it clean of stubern stuff

i bought a cheapy ebay special 21v for keeping on the crane with a 20L camping water container, mostly for getting mud off the tyres and the occasional spruce up when away from the yard...wasnt impressed with it...luckily it had 2 batteries as 1 wasnt enough to rinse off 6 tyres...granted they are large tyres, but its not like i was trying to jet was them clean, just rinse the worst of the mud off before leaving a site and joining a road...i also found it took a very long time to purge the air from the hose and actually pick up water. pressure was reasonable, just a shame the batteries were so bad

Utter, utter, utter waste of money. Every single claim on the advert is a lie, and it just basically spat the hose water out at 1.005 x the hose pressure, with the added annoyance of no way to stop it peeing the water out!

Got the Worx one, it’s pretty handy, no it won’t blast the patio clean but unless you have mega pressure at home it’s certainly better than a normal tap. Used on chicken coops etc and it does a decent job.

I have also used one, can’t remember the make. It was carp, just about useful for rinsing off mud off my mountain bike. It was about 10 years ago so not sure if they have gotten better. But it put me off buying one again.

Never used one but I doubt they will move the volume of water needed to shift the weight/consistency of cow pats. Best achieved with high volume but not especially massive pressure. Like a bucket of water sloshed. Or a booster pump with a 3/4" hose connected to a big enough reservoir. You could use a rainwater butt for either. Buckets are low investment, maintenance and cordless!

I lift most of the cow pat with a navvy shovel, it's the remainder that gets washed away to stop me walking in it and carrying it into the workshop!

I can wash it with the garden hose but it is very slow.

I've got a dirt cheap (£23.99) 21v unbranded one. We bought it for cleaning the caravan and the acres of white UPVC cladding on the house which it does well plus it uses water butt water so can be used during hose pipe bans. I don't think it would clean say, slimy green crazy paving very well but it we have found it very useful for light duties. It certainly has a lot more power than our mains water pressure.

I tried a branded one on a stand at the recent Southampton boat show. I don't remember the brand/model but it was one of the big ones and it was utter rubbish. I wouldn't consider getting one unless I saw it demonstrated working well in front of my eyes.

I don't think you can fairly compare it with a mains one if that is what you expecting. I think some people expect it will be just like a mains Karcher or whatever. It's a different thing for different jobs and only need cost 20 or 30 quid max. It's good for cleaning cars and motorhomes without causing a flood inside and with only a couple of buckets of water and no cables or cleaning UPVC cladding or windows. If you want big power (that you daren't use on a car pay £150 + and don't have a cordless.

The Makita 2x18V brushless 'power' washer I wanted a while ago (and still wouldn't mind) costs hundreds and only does 80 bar max, which surely means considerably less in real use, but I would still go for it just for the usefulness of a glorified hose I can take anywhere that there's water. 30m of hose out of my second floor kitchen window and down to the car on the kerb is a bit silly.

But yes, any old yellow karcher that's on sale somewhere would be more powerful.

What a miss by Makita making their new (to the UK) wand brushed. It would have been an instant purchase if brushless.
