Cordless grinder

Hi guys do any of you use cordless grinders ? I was wondering what sort of duty time you could get out of them

Any info is much appreciated

Makita and love it! It's ok for light stuff or when long cables etc would be a real pain

Depends on the battery, you will get much longer out of a 3Ah that you will out of a 1.3Ah. Also depends on the work your doing cutting with a 0.8 disk will require much less effort than running a wire brush. used Dewalt one was ok, not as good as a corded tho

I have a Dewalt 18v, battery life is pretty short, They run around 7000rpm,quite a lot slower than a corded one, but very handy when used on small jobs away from power. As mentioned,use a 0.8mm thin cutting disc and don't push, let the disc cut at it's own speed.

I use a Dewalt 125mm battery grinder, as stated above, the grinders great its my batteries that are now causing me the problem.

Very rarely for metalwork, always find that its quicker just to get a lead out or use a genny if theres more than a few bits to cut.

What they really are good for, cutting studs off flush after fitting something... pack up the gear while the resin goes off, lop of with cordless grinder, job done.

I had a cheap and cheerful cordless grinder but very short battery time. My ancient 300 watt B&D angle grinder however ran quite happily via an inverter connected to a car battery. We used it to trim and shape horses hooves ! Unfortunatley my mate died and I hadn't the heart to ask his widow for it back seeing it was virtually worthless.

Found the DeWalt grinder very good for small jobs, but as above batteries don't last long, I had to "middle" about 8 lengths of 2" angle and got through 3 batteries! mailny used at work for removing padlocks from lockers when they've forgotten the key

I've got the dewalt model. Came in a set. I thought I'd never use it but it gets quite a bit of use. It's great for small one off jobs when I can't be bothered getting the transformer and leads out. Not great on battery life but with the 4ah batteries, it does the job.
