Cordless Battery Rebuilding ??

I recently bought a blue-point cordless drill on ebay, with the batteries not holding charge...worth a punt at £30
Charged yesterday, already down to 50% today with no use.

I've had a google (ouch) and could not seem to find any UK sources for rebuilding the battery packs.

I did find a pub bloke how-to linky
...but I think I'd rather just send them off to get done with a warranty !

Anyone know any companies ??

Just got the better of me and sorry for hijacking.
I have two dead Dewalt 18V 2.4ah Nicd batteries, just took 8 screws out and no markings on the cells. Each cell is sleeved in a purple cardboard, under bare metal. Theres a cardboard sheet covering over the top of the cells glued on with that conductive stuff and cant even count the number of cells, can only see 12 but could be 14 or 16?

Hareng, you'll probably have 15 batteries at 1.2volts each.....

Many thanks looks like £97.82 each refurb plus send and receive.

I'll try the welder, nothing to lose. Incidently no markings there either so multimeter out if theres some form of charge in. Three contacts.

If that fails two options get the cells and do myself or buy the 2 nano batteries and charger which would be cheaper than a refurb.

My 14V drill gone down as well.

I have the same problem on my collection of battery tools but to get some use out of them I have connected them to the output of my mig running a lead to the drill making sure that the voltage output is around 18 to 20V DC for the 18V rated tool , wired in a two pole changeover switch to give the contactor coil a permanent supply and disconnect the motor supply at the same time . Losing the flexibility of cordless use hasnt made much difference as I wouldnt need it much away from my work area and the prospect of burning out the Nu Tool drill used in screwdriver mode through too high a voltage dosnt matter as its worth next to nothing anyway . On the plus side it works better than it ever did on the original batteries , just have to make sure I dont put 30V or more through it accidentally which is probably what I will do eventually .

Just an update went for the nano Lion batteries and multi voltage charger, cant use original. So far on one charge done what a Nicad 2.4a would do, just a matter of how much more.
Screwfix £160 each, brand new boxed £55 and £7 delivery.
Standard NiCd 2.4a at Screwfix are £80 each, best price seen £48 delivered new. Machine mart £293 two Lion bats and charger.

Have a good shop around its possible to buy brand new far superior for cheaper than a re cell.
