The all important bit, crud builds up around the outside of these old injectors in the pocket and it will fall down as soon as they are pulled, well worth cleaning them out prior to refitting.

Just tested a Lister OE copper injecter washer.

The magnet picked it up.

Cut it in half, all copper.

Same with pennies, they will pick up with a magnet.

The Inject and fuel line washer we get are all from china.

We can get some real dirt cheep ones and they are sh1t.
Or we get OE ones and they do the job, just as the after markets ones from a decent supplier.

if the magnet picked it up its not copper.
Pennies have been copper flashed steel for years now as 2p was worth more as scrap than it was currency.

buy quality new copper washers. if you have to use second hand ones aneal them . the thing is mind second hand anealed are already crushed down after been fitted so new is best

I have a selection box. I can’t remember how much or where from. I’ve had it years. Just top it up as needed. Seems the easiest way.
For me, anyway.

me too, but i normally just anneal them as I am tight!

You can get copper crush washers i.e the ones with the groove in them for more ”give” - rather than just a flat washer.
Might be worth checking to see what type of washer was fitted as standard, although it has to be said a flat copper washer is all I can recall encountering on any injector I’ve removed.

Not all Injector seals are flat, or copper....
I did a BMW a while a ago that had dome shaped washers fitted....
I've also seen Injectors with steel ( looking) washers

My local diesel injection specialist and i were chatting one day, having chucked many injection pumps to be refurbed his way, and i asked him where i could buy a sélection of washers from.

He opened thé drawer of spare mixed leftover washers, pulled out a bag and put two big handfulls in the bag.

I spent âges, ages sorting them Into compartment boxes, three of, apart from thé standard sizes, and Kubota sizes, i've not had to buy any for years.

Luckily now, i try to avoid that kind of work.
