Copper rod and heat shield

[I'm getting on a bit]

I'm looking to source some 4mm solid copper.

This is to make a custom induction coil I also require some heat shield the existing one looks like it's made of very fine glass fibre this would be tight fitting on the coil.

Wouldn't copper pipe be Better as it has more surface area (Assuming your inverter is at a high enough frequency for the skin effect to be noticeable? Also it can be water cooled.

The application requires a smaller wire it's just now and again so water-cooled is too much trouble

But I have tried 2.5mm mains cable that was interesting

Would 4mm T/E do it?

Edit: seems it's stranded so no use. You could use a strand from a thicker, say 16/25mm, cable?
