Hi,
I see all the suggestions for laying bead after bead as a learning exercise, building up the whole surface of the test piece. What would you suggest about cooling the work? I find if I run more than a couple of practice beads on the plate then as it gets hotter and hotter the characteristics of everything change - striking the arc, how it runs, what it looks like. What's the best way to go about this? Quench after each run, or let it cool naturally or just let it get hotter and hotter.
Thanks, Tony S
