Converting from 3 Phase

I am currently looking at bandsaws and have found a Startrite 352 that fits the bill.
The spec of the Startrite is 3 Phase 415v 50Hz 750watts. Unfortunately I don't have 3 Phase so id need an invertor to run in on 240v Single Phase.

Could anyone point me in the direction of an invertor which would do the job? And a rough cost of it?

You need to find out if the motor is dual voltage first, 230/415v, as that will make a huge price difference to the inverter.

On the data plate it has only 415 under the voltage section. Would that imply it is only 415v?

No you need to see inside the motor cover plate to see if it has 3 or 6 terminals, a 3 terminal motor is Star configuration and 415 only, if it has 6 terminals it should mean its wireable as a Delta configuration and so will run on 230v *3.
It might be cheaper to replace the 3 phase motor to a single phase motor if its only 750w?

You might have to change the coil on the DOL (Direct Online Starter) if its a 415v one, only a couple of quid or it might be easier to change the whole contactor, no more than a tenner.

An inverter(like this) will cost about the same as a cheapo single phase motor, but the phaff level is much less and you get the ability to vary the speed of the saw which is a very good thing. Just ignore the standard start/stop button and run it off the inverter controls, unless you're commercial in which case you'll have to do it properly and wire in the safety microswitches to the inverter and if you're doing that you might as well have start/stop buttons as well. If the motor on a machine that modern is not dual voltage I'll eat my hat.

I have the 4kw version of that inverter and I am really pleased with it. The Chinglish manual takes awhile to get your head around but its almost plug and play.

Not that particular make, but I've fitted inverters to several bits of 3 phase gear and it's straightforward if you are comfortable with domestic wiring.

Im ok with the domestic stuff but I think il leave it to my Father in law as it seems to be his bread and butter.
