Converting a Server power supply to a benchtop.

I recently bought a Dell poweredge 1800 server, which I stripped down for parts after failing to sell it complete.

I'm wanting to convert the 2x 675w hot swap power supplies to a couple of benchtop power supplies:

One just a 55a 12v which is easy, because there's just a couple of pins to bridge - fan speed, and power on.

The other, I want to run through the "power supply interface" to give me 5v, -5v and 3.3v.
But... As well as the standard atx and molex connectors, there is a 20 way ribbon cable which I'm assuming will have some effect on if/how it works?

I can't find any info about the pinouts for the ribbon cable.
The p/n for the interface is das56tb44d1

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I just spent an hour browsing through them before I posted on here.
Most of the conversions I read are for standard atx. The only one I could find for a "hot swap" doesn't use the "interface"


Basically, the hot swappable part just outputs 12v (and a 3.3v control line).
The power interface board converts to 5.0v and a usable sized 3.3v

I *could* just get a few voltage convertors I suppose, but id like to get this one to work...

Might be a low profile 20pin connector. What does it terminate in?

It terminates in a standard ribbon cable connector.
Cable is *way* too thin to carry power.

That looks like a connection for iLO and monitoring. This enables remote powerup and stats on the health of the PSU to be reported to the lights out system. I can't remember what the Dell version is called. I mainly used HP with their Insight Lights Out management system.

240v input ?

Yes 240V input although “kettle sockets” and plugs have a high temperature rating for sustained high current draw and inrush current. Lower rating plugs will not fit the sockets as they do not have the necessary cutout that prevents entry. Cannot remember off the top of my head if the hot plug and socket exceeds the 10A rating ie 13A to match the maximum fuse rating for the mains plug but the safety margin for the contacts used to be higher.

How dod you get on with this? I need a 12v 25-30A supply for my TV lift, but this electricity from server is new to me?

I ignored the ribbon cable. otherwise wired exactly the same as an atx pc to bench top power supply conversion, except with hot swappable bits, and a bit more power.

not really done anything with it, because I dropped on a cheap farnell dual 0-30v bench top supply.
