converting a clarke 135 te turbo

hi to all does anybody know if its posible to convert a clarke 135 te turbo mig welder to run on gasless wire thanks ian or does any body know of a cheap gas suplyer in west yorks thanks ian

I have a Sip migmate 150 turbo (NOT the dual purpose one) and i have used 0.8 gasless wire in it ,still learning though and probs are i think down to a poor earth clamp (now sorted) and figuring out the correct settings !

Aye, you can convert any machine to run flux cored, but you should reverse the polarity of the torch/earth. So make the torch -ve. It might mean getting inside the machine where the torch is wired up and havin a fiddle. Pretty obvious what to do though.

Sure someone on here did a side by side on the diff polarity & in the real world found no difference.

old subject,I know,but someone may find it useful.......Just finished a job running flux-no-gas-wire through my little gas only clarke machine....worked just fine with no conversions at all.Found it worked best on a low wire speed with the torch at 90 degrees to work and quite close up to ensure the arc is in the fume cloud.Some anti spatter liberally around the area is a good idea as it tended to spit little gobbets quite a way.With a lttle change of technique its possible to get good results.The fumes arent much fun though and round our area the more serious trade factors arent stocking flux wire anymore because of that.Still available from hobby/hardware places though.
