Convertible hood resto

Just got a really good deal off a mechanic mate on a VW convertible, half going rate, just wanted shot of it, needs the space, Mechanically and body work its great but the soft top needs attention, its fine in no rips scratches etc but its mouldy and discoloured from sitting in a damp garage for a long time. Anyone with experience recommend a good kit they've used to demould/restore/waterproof - also what to avoid?

Lots of sprays and cleaners available for soft tops, Renovo, Auto Glym and lots of youtube videos on how to use them.

Daz automatic washing powder. Mix up a solution and sponge it on, leave it a while then give it a good scrub with a nail brush. It might take a while but it should clean up. Happy scrubbing.

Price up a hood before you buy it.I've heard of a lot of people buying cheap beetles and finding a new hood is more than they paid for the car.Also rear windows fall out of them, its not repairable.

Mate had two MKI Golf convertibles brand new. He said that a new top, even back in late 1980's, was £1200 so dread to think how much they are now.
