Odd I have been clearing my fathers house recently. Found both the paperwork for the house bought in 85, and the receipt for a yacht bought roughly the same time. They were within 200 quid of each other. One has gone up substansially, wonder what the boat is worth now.

A 1985 yacht will be worth substantially less than it cost in 85. Bit of a pet subject for me as i was in the trade, The number of yachtsmen peaked in 1976-7 & has been falling steadily ever since. New boats get built & old ones wear out, actually all the expensive bits wear out the hull & decks being grp potentially last centuries & are all but un recyclable.
94% of all the GRP boats ever made are still here in one form or another with landfill being only option.
In the carribean thousands of hurricane damaged boats (repairable) have been loaded onto barges & towed to deep water & scuttled in giant reefs. We aint talking cheap boats either, nowhere to fix them & they are in the way. This has been going on for years.

I’ve a mate that buys a project, buys loads of stuff for it, but never fits it, as its either beyond repair, above his [frankly] pathetic abilities. Costs too much, or his lass didnt know about it and she makes him sell it.

Doesnt stop him, god only knows what he’s spent over the yrs, and wonder of wonders always skint...

But the next project will be the one!

Just wish he’d buy something I would take off his hands
