Confused potential lincoln buyer

Evening all,
I posted in welders section for good / bad about lincoln powertec 271c as I was all set to order one tomorrow, some people like lincoln mig's but some have had problems with the feed rollers.
Bottom line is local firm is the right money and will be good for backup but am I making a mistake and should I be getting something else?

Main uses,
workshop, 2-8mm steel fab, car/Land rover repair
Work- welding brackets on 10mm thick rsj's on agricultural installations
Must be single phase to be totally versatile at all work sites
Don't really want to go down inverter route

it is the same with everything. I drive a Renault that is a constant source of head aches, yet a mate has the same model and hasn't had a problem with it.

bottom line is, some things go wrong, others don't. if one brand made 100% faultless equipment, we wouldn't shop anywhere else.

thaats not to say Lincoln isn't perfect nor the worst out there, but if you have a chance at one where there will be good aftersales then I would think its worth a look

Your spot on,
nobody is perfect just member bc30se has had enough trouble for all of us!
You know what it's like when your spending good money on a machine your hoping to give long service and someone has had grief.
Did look at miller but biggest single phase is 220 so down on power compared to lincoln

I have not got a bad word to say about anything in the lincoln range and I've used a good few migs and tigs. That saying I've not owned one, my good experiences with them would certainly persuade me to buy one. If your put off though there are other brands doing similar units. Miller esab lorch. Etc.

Must admit , I've heard far more good than bad about lincoln and with good local dealer + 3 yr warranty I think it's still probably my best bet

At that required high amperage coupled with single phase and also being a transformer machine as you well know you'll need a pretty stout power supply, the options are pretty limited at the top end of the single phase machines available,

As you say at least you're getting the back up from your local dealer should you choose to go with the Lincoln.
