Configuring router.

I am considering using my virgin super hub on modem mode.
I have been told an enterprise router is better than a dual band home type.

Anyway for the time being I would like to use the Mikrotik Hap AC Lite router board.
Sadly the numpties on their forum seem to expect mensa visitors and do not suffer fools gladly...lol
All I need is to Connect the LAN from my Super Hub 2 the Mikrotik and then configure the wireless . That's the easy part.
The part I need help with is how to configure the Mikrotik to be able to use the same IP LAN address of 192.168.0.0. This is where I am stuck.

Does your virgin hub let you turn off DHCP? This is the bit you then need to turn on in the router you want to use.
You should be able to set router to distribute the ip range your used to. You then need to connect the virgin “modem” to the wan port of the router.

I do this at home I have the bt openreach modem > dedicated router serving dhcp> access points distributing Wi-fi.

he needs to connect first virgin modem then the Mikrotik Hap AC Lite

he can dmz it to the router which is a direct to the net connection with no firewalls like it would have going through the modem

Probably BUT I still need the wireless capability in the front room (for now) where the Virgin Hub is . I also need a hardwired Ethernet and wireless in the back room from the mikrotik.
Some of the reason for doing this is the wifi is crap in the backroom BUT if the mikrotik is good in the backroom I will get another and run the Virgin Hub in modem mode. I ALSO have 2 major bugbears in my life...I did say major..lol

First is the wifi keeps drops in the front room. I dont think its my phone as the other devices like grandsons Ipad and sons phone also drop often (sometimes every few mins) I read up on it and there can be various reasons so I tried one today. Altered the channels each 2.4 and 5 were using instead of AUTO I set it manually. For an hour after that my phone was insanely responsive. But now its back to how it was.

Second is my Huawei P30 pro keeps returning to the main screen when typing in various apps. Often facebook can be browser or other app. I though it might be a gesture issue so I tuned that off but you can still be typing away and "Boom" back to the main screen...(its so annoying)

I have just checked the mikrotik using winbox as you dont need to know the IP that you set in the mikrotik router and strangely enough its looks like it might be working . it has an addreess of 192.168.0.100 so I am just checking the wifi speeds if I can..lol

i dont think you use the wireless on the virgin box in modem mode, you can plug your new router in to the virgin box and disable the dhcp on it to turn it in to a switch and get a wirless access point and a few more ethernet ports in your back room.

if he switches the hub into modem mode only its a straight through to his router gear

but it turns off wifi connections then he would need to create the same password on the new router system so other units can reconnect to it

using dmz ignores the hub but goes straight through to his new router but still allows wifi access

the hub has firewalls on the connections but dmz ignores the firewalls protocols on that pc not sure if it works with a modem though

it also means the connections are still shared via the hub unit

on the router side of it that connection is shared out between its connections

ive only ever had to do it once and that was due to the modem being rubish that virgin supplied once

Yes that's exactly the case. But I don't want to loose wireless in the Front room until I prove what the problem is.
I had actually got the Mikrotik working in the backroom. But it's only had 2.4 enabled. I finally managed to reconfigure it late last night so will test it later.
