Conduit bender formers ?

Quick question for thems that have, or have used a bender for STEEL conduit .................

I have dug out our ancient (1960s) Hilmor bender. Only found one curved former up to now, but ISTR a box with a couple of other sizes, probably imperial. These are made of iron, and not aloominum.

Anyway, when bending STEEL conduit with one of these, do you also use a straight flat former with semi circular groove in it, like you would with copper pipe ? Or not.

If so, will have to look harder to find them.

Without the former I can’t see how you’ll manage to get a bend in the pipe. They do sell replacement formers on ebay

The conduit benders I have only use formers, the guide is a dished roller that suits both diameters of conduit.

Ah, the voice of someone who's never experienced the joys of bending 32mm conduit.

back on topic, compatible formers for old Hilmor benders are readily available online if you don't find your box, or you do and it's really old (3/4" formers won't do 20mm conduit, but 1" is fine for 25mm).

Ive a hilmor el 32 conduit bender. Mine has dies and a following roller if I remember correctly.
