concrete vibrator

my big vibrator is buried in packing crates.....
I have to build/ pour around 20 conc pillars.....600x600x450Deep.....
want to make a proper solid job of it.....
there's nowhere to rent anything here....
can anyone recommend a drill powered something, it can even be mains powered.....
happy to buy it but prob never use it again.....

It not deep. Couldn't you just use a rod to poke it all down? I always worried more about over vibrating sending all the gravel down and leaving cement at the top than anything else.

I've gone around form work with an SDS set to chisel only and a homemade bit (actually a thick washer welded to the end of a cut down chisel!). It seemed to work.

perhaps a 1/3 hp Mains voltage motor 9 off a cheap drill press ???) coach screwed to a board and put an off center flange or off center big bolt on the pully end so it vibrates as it goes round as the bolt is of centre .Sit it on a rubber mount and wear some thick welding /anti vibration gloves as the vibrations can give you white finger ,

Yep don't be tempted to over-vibrate.

All the aggregate will sink to bottom.

I'm sure the OP knows how to vibrate concrete.

I will suggest just buying another cheap one that way the knowledge
of how to properly vibrate is not lost/changed.

And a good job will be done properly.


FWIW the little of it did, there is more a chance of blowing out a form, than segregating, it
happens that fast.
