computer help needed

Hi guys I am having stalling problems with my pc. The screen doesnt freeze as such but when you scroll thru arseface (facebook) or fleabay it hangs for a second or two and is damn annoying, sometimes its on youtube as well. The internet connection is fast enough I just wondered if it could be the display adaptor in my machine ?

Specs are:
Dell Precision 690

System windows 8.1


Processor Intel Xenon (R) E5345 @2.33GHz

Memory 32.0GB

64 bit operating system

Display adaptor Nvidia Quadro FX 3500

Storage 2TB hitachi scsi + 2gb hitachi scsi

Which browser are you using?

Flash is known for causing that type of thing. I find it very annoying. It's quite easy to disable it as a test.

we are currently using sky broadband but will be changing back to virgin media at christmas, sky broadband is damn intermittent and drops out when someone uses the telephone ! As for browser I only use Firefox

ive always used 2 things if im getting glitching whilst on the web

speedtest and a ping test to test the system servers from my pc

firefox has issues with addons the flash player is one of them ive had more crashes and freezes from youtube ever since they changed there system

even ive had to use opera and the issue is still there

Sky broadband
ping was 23ms
download 4.37mbps
upload 0.86mbps

virgin media was giving me download speeds of 30+ mbps, hence why I am going back to them at Christmas

if you have anyone else on that internet connection it would kill it by stalling and glitching like hell a friend had the same problem as well and hes got a few kids on same system like that

this happens when its just one of the puters being used, as for server name or IP address, is there a list to choose from on that site or do I have to provide one ?

theres 2 tests just pick a site name say facebook or even youtube makes no difference

the ping test is to check your ip ping test like speedtest does its the traceroute that has more info if there is any server issues within the system outside of your house it will show up the problem what your looking for

is being timed out over 100ms at any server point in the system

If you lose connectivity when someone uses the phone you either have a faulty or missing adsl filter.

its the filter that came with the router from sky, thankfully I only have to put up with sky till christmas. I was hoping it was summat to do with the puter so I could give it a quick fix

It sounds like the rendering of the Web pages. The sky isn't particularly fast either. Make sure you have filters on all extensions.

Several other possibilites spring to mind. Browser cache could be in need of a clearout. Malware might be running (is the anti-virus software decent and up to date; try doing a full scan). Background windows processes can slow things down considerably, like updates (Update Tuesday was this week) and others, such as Windows 10 sneakily installing itself on the PC. Have a look at the list of scheduled tasks, those that run every day and those actually running. It's quite an eye opener. Windows 7 and up tries to do an awful lot in the background. It would be very helpful if Windows did more messaging to inform the user what was going on. Do Ctrl+Shift+Esc and look at the processor and network loads. Sysinternals Process Explorer is a useful bit of software, to see what's going on. CCleaner, too, for clearing out unwanted stuff.

what i can tell you is that ping is fine so its down to other things

Get Yourself advanaced uninstall Pro (free) and clear your cach ect every week...i also have my internet options set to clear all pages history and cookies everytime i close the browser,really helps to keep things upto speed. I was using firefox but too many crashes forced me back over to IE.

Browser or someone snooping where you're heading ie malwares......google is common for this when browsing it will hit the site then hang for a few seconds before loading all the site.

google is getting to big for its breaches these days.

Try adblock plus for your browser too. Ad heavy sites can cause that with all the flash and JS they load in to be processed before rendering the page.
