Calling all computer nerds. I am leaving MattH alone due to his circumstances but I have a small program called MIS auto print I am trying to get working on windows 10.

If anyone has some time to mess please PM me with your email and I will squirt it over.
Essentially its been abandoned for some time but is a small utility that uses task scheduler to send a print job daily (or set in the program) to keep inkjet printers from clogging.)

I used to use it on windows 7 so it worked then but I cant see why its not showing the tasks in the scheduler in windows 10

In case it is an issue with autoprint and windows 10 not playing well together, there is an equivalent solution here: https://forum.luminous-landscape.com/index.php?topic=110336.0 . Any program that uses a print switch on its command line should work if you do not want to use irfanview.

Sadly thats all code and beyond me . Thats why I liked the program version This is it.

just change xlsx to zip if any one wants to see if it works for them.

Does the software create a task in the task scheduler or does it not work that far anymore.
If it still creates the task but it doesnt do anything, you might be able to fix the task.

I do a similar thing using print conductor. It uses windows task scheduler so is fine in Win 10. Will be able to take a look at yours if you want to keep the same solution, it’s normally a compatibility thing due to Win10 not allowing as much access to the OS as Win7 used to.
You can set the scheduled task to run in a specific context (admin account) which gets round a number of issues. Also try running it in compatibility mode.

well if I just install it . The auto print program can run but nothing is created. IF I use compatibility mode it installs and when run actually asks for the user name and password.

BUT whilst it shows on task scheduler, it does not run.

Yep, so what I think you’re seeing is the result of the patch for the Print Nightmare vulnerability. The print spooler service runs in system context and had to be tightened up due to a security flaw. It sounds like the spooler is seeing this job as an attack, probably due to the way the software is sending the job to it.

Have a look at the print spooler service properties. I would be inclined to try using the credentials for the local admin account. Using elevated privilege might get round this. Also do the same for the scheduled task properties, run it in admin context rather than the local system.

When I get to a real PC instead of this tablet I’ll grab some screenshots.

OK, here you go. Look at the red circled bits.

User or Group - set this to the local ADMIN account on the PC. Also select the radio button for "Run whether user is logged on or not"
Tick Run with highest privileges
In the drop down, choose the Windows 7 option.

That might well fix it. If it doesn't, PM me and I will try and help further.
