Compressor please help

Hi as you know am trying too get my 2nd hand compressor working. After draining the crap out of tank I thought it was time to wire up the plug and get it working but no it fired up for 1 minute and stopped , this valve thing ( see photo ) leaking out air it has a split on the bottom of it so I need to replace it but do not have any idea what I am buying ? please help..

That's a filter/regulator, like one of these.

To be honest I'd discard that one and blank the hole off. Then get a 1/2 filter regulator and fit it where the end plug is on the tank (assuming one is fitted). In my experience the Clarke ones don't last all that long.

Fit your filter/regulator where the smaller bung is in the middle picture. Don't let the outer bung move when you unscrew the smaller one - they're a sod to re-seal.

as it has a split on the bottom ...

Ok but will have to buy a new filter/ regulator as the current one has a split on it ...The filter/regulator will stick out quite far in this new position ?

Yes they do stick out, and there is a danger of catching them and snapping them off-- just got to learn to be careful, and also--not to lift or move the machine by the regulator

If you are considering air tools that want lubrication,you might want to consider a combination unit with an oiler

However, an auto oiler could be added later if you ever needed one for a specific air tool that requires Oil.
