Those compressors are an exellent bit of kit, I have one already and will be getting another to add to my capacity.

not sure about the tools though, I bought a cheap one of those shears a while ago (not aldi ones) and they are worse than bad, will cut 0.5mm aluminium max, and cereal boxes.

the compressors arent bad, i used one on satarday continuasly for an hour painting a truck with only a 5 min break halfway in, and it still works ok, sold it on satarday tho coz ive got a bigger one now


oh and ps, dont buy the air ratchet, stripped the mechanism on my one doing up an m8 bolt

I have the same one.

The reg started leaking within a year. The cover over the oil bowl snapped off (still works.) The oiler is tricky to adjust as the set screw is very coarse.

I replaced the reg with a Norgen, now works fine. Still looking for a name-brand oiler.

im trying to get into the habit of buying the best i can afford, like today i went out to a specialist air compressor supplies shop to buy some decent fittings and hose rather than the rather ebay p1sh, i got 8 quick connect outlets, 6 quick connect inlets various step up/ step down fittings, couple of rolls of thread tape and about 40 metres of hose, all of it feels good quality heavy duty stuff esecially the outlet valves, there about a tenner each the guy said, but since it wasnt really enough to do the paperwork he says hell take 25 quid, i gave him a bit more for goodwill because the chap saved me about 70 80 quid, but the point is that it could be cheaper than you think if you go to a specialist to buy decent stuff

Air nailer staplers are ok 40mm staples 50mm 18g wire nails, just need to keep them oiled. Certainly good for hard board lining.

I bought the compressor last summer,works well,used it to spray my lads bike no problems ,bought the ratchet and impact wrench,don't expect the impact to undo car wheel nuts it won't,not without modifications hoses regulators,the sockets and extensions are prob worth what you pay for the set though.Ihaven't tried the die grinder but they are extremely useful,great with flap discs for de-burring and hard to reach places,recommend the tool not the supplier!......remember to keep the receipt and if you don't like it or break it ,there is a 30 day exchange/refund available....

What modifications can you do to the impact wrench?

I bought one last year and frankly I can produce more torque with a 3/8 ratchet handle.
I've sent off for a sealey GSA01 in an effort to undo a couple of 1/2 UNF bolts. If I had the car high enough to swing a scaffold pole I'd pull them with a cracker bar (or snap them off).
I don't want to cut the nuts off them, as if the bolts won't come out I'm in trouble.

It was mentioned in an earlier thread ,whilst most compressors achieve the correct pressure the regulators and pipework tend to restrict airflow,some people have remove the inspection plug on the reciever others have removed the supplied regulators from the tank and either installed higher flowing regulators or hose direct to tank,hose should be at least 10mm or 3/8,shorter is better,a valve is wise before the hose.This allows maximum flow and pressure to the wrench ,however cheap wrenches like the aldi are only single hammer,more expensive guns are twin hammer and produce the torque much more easily.....hope this helps Gav

Yes, I picked up a dead 6HP compressor. It has all 1/4 piping and fittings. I found that odd. Replaced manifold and used 3/8" fittings.

I do have 1/2" running to my garage.

It all made a considerable difference.

u buy cheap,,u pay twice!!!

all depending on how u use your tools

light work buy cheap stuff,,,,used often pay alittle bit more it last longer

When I got mine, the Aldi was the only compressor I found with a 3 year warranty. I suspect it may die just before the end of the period........

If you get three years out of it, for the price, you can't complain!

At my friends works they regularly dispose of expensive three phase compressors after three years as it's too much trouble to get the reviever re-inspected and approved.
