Compressor advice needed.

I just acquired a 3hp 150l compressor and it came with a complete spare pump and motor already mounted on a plate.

The spec says that it is 14cfm. Will this be adequate for air tools?

I also have a small 50l Compressor vessel, could I fit the large motor and pump to the vessel and connect the 2 compressors to each other? Or would I be better fitting the spare pump and motor to the large Compressor and running both pumps and motors on the one vessel?

I'd be inclined to fit the spare to the smaller tank and fit it with wheels and a handle. You can easily connect the two tanks together. There's plenty about that and running air tools on here.

I was preferring that method, as it gives me a portable and powerful wee thing.

Any advice on making the pipe that runs from the pump to the tank?

Another advantage of using the spare tank is that it would be much easier to plumb in the pressure switch etc.

Mine's just 15mm OD copper. Make sure the pump is mounted rigidly to the tank so the pipe won't flex.

It's really just a vessel,as the previous owner moved everything over to another compressor. plumbing in and wiring the pressure switch won't be a problem, it's the main return from the pump to the tank that will need some thinking out, but I'll worry about that when I come to it.

If you use 15mm copper pipe the compression fittings have 1/2 inch BSP threads, so you can use adapters/reducers whatever to mate up to the threads on the pump and valve on the tank.
