Comp board thicknesses

I need to make some gates, steel hollow section frame and comp board infill. I've used 18mm thick comp board before but it seems awful heavy for what it's doing, is there 1/ 2 inch or 12mm available?

does it need to be solid...quite a bit of smart ally box section available for infill....
I wont build a gote or post that heavy unless they are sliders.....otherwise it will always end in tears...

Opening is 3.4m so each leaf is 1.7m wide by about 1250 mm high, and hinged.
Do you think that would be too heavy?

No, there wouldn't be much weight difference in
1)3/4 inch comp board infill or
2) steel railings, horizontals and decorative features.
