Combined wirefeed /euro adapt

Only new to forum and asked few questions already , some folk day scrap the sip 195 but I like to have challenge and mod things even if have to get people to do if can create good set for hobby welding then it's got to be done!
Wondering if this would solve the wire feed issue the sets commonly have and is it suitable?

I bought one of these from Technical Arc (they make Portamigs) for a Cebora 130 and it's been fine though the motor looks slightly different to the one in the pic. I (or rather Les at Tech Arc) had to modify the main pcb slightly so would recommend giving him a call or emailing him, v helpful. Can't say if it would solve your wire feed issue but they're quite easy to fit.

Pic shows size of new motor compared to original!

really want to create good half decent welder out the old one , worth a look defo , will call tech arc for advice too

What voltage is your current motor? Technical Arc (Les) has said the lowest voltage they do is 24v, although he can and will see without the motor, and you use a 12v wiper motor in its place.

£110 for something that may address the problem that the OP may have.

Gramas; you need to identify where the issues are with your machine and then address them methodically. You could spend £110 on that gizmo and be no further forward, or you could buy a new liner for a tenner and fit a brace and sort out the problems there and then.

I didn't invent the SIP MIG welders so I ain't taking the blame for their many deficiencies but there's no magic bullet - if you want to turn it into a half decent welder then you're going to have to assess each of the problem areas, the potential fixes, and the cost of implementing them.
Or scrap it and get a Clarke I stuck with my SIP and now I'm happy with it but there was no one single problem to fix...

Not exactly!

Needed to modify the main bulkhead and move the reel holder so wire lined up with wire feed rollers.

Made a cardboard template for cover for motor:

Sorry don't have a pic to hand of finished item but you get the idea. Also needed to add a new gas valve as the original was part of the torch. It was a couple of years ago when I did this so memory may have failed me but I think it was a 240v gas valve and I took the wires from the (input) to the main actuator.

This was definitely in the 'project' category! - it's not an economic proposition for a Cebora 130 but on the other hand it was fun doing it and I did learn quite a bit about how welders work in the process.

When you cut away the bulkhead separating the wire feed side of the machine from the electrical side leaving big gaps did you spare a thought for what might happen if you have a wire jam and live mig wire starts poking through that gap?
I'd be very concerned about modifying machinery in such a way that the physical barriers between the operator and live parts are compromised.

You're quite right. The pic shown was work in progress - should have made it clearer that from a safety point of view you need to replace the bulkhead and from a strength perspective you need to add some bracing for the top rail of the bulkhead.
