Combination set M&W or Starrett

Hi

Just wanted to know if anyone has opinion on these two models- they're not the top offerings by the manufacturers but they fall in to my Christmas present bracket!

I had a one similar cant remember the make. The blob on the end of the screw that holds the piece to the rule snapped, swapped parts over with another that snapped to.

Save your money buy individual stuff.

I have the m&w set and can't fault it up to now.

In the dim & distant I had the machinists turn me up stainless steel versions.

Have a feeling that MW make two grades and you may be comparing the cheaper one with the Starrett
I've had an MW set for fifty years and other than loosing the scriber its fine!

Like you say M&W do a more expensive set but its £200, similar to the set mitutoyo make.

I just can't justify the extra unless there a
Massive gulf in quality
